Apologist of the Week: Tracy Trinita

Every single one of us has to face the person we see in the mirror.

However, very few of us have to face ourselves while the rest of the world is watching us and criticizing our every move.

It was hard enough to face the person in the mirror… now add the world of modeling to that entourage. Tracy Trinita was Indonesia’s first international super model and she got sucked into the the vortex of lost identity and lies. Christ extended the cross and pulled her out! Her story will inspire you and perhaps it will help you face yourself as she has helped me face me.

A few of the tools she offers are found in a life testimony of knowing and identity. She has the treasure of which our selfie-centered society is seeking: she is a child of God and nothing can separate her from His great love. Her passion for Evangelism and freedom in Christ will draw you in.

You are most likely to see her speaking around Asia. However, If ever you have the opportunity to see her in person, GO!

(Secret: She is an absolute food and can cook the most amazing nasi goreng!!!)

Event (Review): Ligonier West Coast

R.C. Sproul’s Legacy is loud and proud. The Ligonier West Coast Conference was a brain explosion of Biblical exposition and cultural engagement geared to those who love Jesus Christ as their savior and want to be better Christians in this crazy world we live in.

At the airport of churches, complete with shuttle concourse and its own coffee shop, thousands of people from all over the coast gathered like a large basket of buttermilk biscuits… excited for curry.

…I will let that sink in for a moment…

And for those of you who still don’t get it, let me just say that for a gathering in the Pacific Northwest, this conference was sadly lacking in cultural diversity amongst the attendees. However, we were all equally excited to hear from the Indian Apologist Ravi Zacharias!

The speakers did NOT disappoint. Their wealth of knowledge and passion for the church to share the Gospel left people, such as myself, eager to get involved with our churches, love our neighbors, and study our Bible more.

To be sure, there was also some controversial statements. I would not expect to agree 100% with any of these speakers and would question myself most assuredly if I did.  Those statements in question have provoked good discussion and are ever a constant reminder that no one is perfect and we ought not to treat anyone as if they have all of the answers.

I exhort you, be like the Bereans!

“They welcomed the message with eagerness and examined the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.”           – Acts 17:11

Good luck and God speed.

Apologist of the Week: Sam Allberry

Pastor Sam Allberry is becoming a legend of faith. He is a sweet tempered, approachable man, from the English countryside. You would never guess that his determination to love while standing firm in Biblical convictions would frequently provoke angry responses from both liberal and conservative sides of the community concerned with human sexuality – regardless of their faith.

Sam Allberry

An Anglican minister in England, an editor for the Gospel  Coalition, a speaker with the Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, who also happens to claim same sex attraction (SSA) and chooses a life of celibacy. He adamantly and openly affirms our identity as humans is not bound to our sexual preference, but is found fully in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

I had the privilege of serving alongside Pastor Sam while on a mission trip in Montreal, Canada. His life provides tools we all need in standing beside one another to recognize that we are not as different as we think we are. We are all broken and in need of a Healer. Check out his bio and 3 minute video addressing this subject to the General Synod (Church of England Leadership).

Apologist of the Week: Amy Orr-Ewing

Our featured apologist of the week is the brilliant, bible-smuggling, Mother of 3: Amy Orr-Ewing. Don’t let her ready smile and calm British manner deceive you! When she responds to questions, its as if the 92 year old professor, activist, and philosopher living inside of her come out while maintaining her youthful passion and 21st century relevance. I have learned so much from her and I am pleased to encourage you to learn from her also.

Here is one of my favorite talks she gives on why we can trust the Bible.

And a response she gives during live Q&A
